I concluded ideation by settling on a “threaded“ squeezer design which allows you to easily generate a lot of pressure in a smaller area without requiring a lot of force as a prerequisite, which meant the design could be very inclusive for people who may have health issues such as arthritis.

A hero render showcasing a design I came up with early on. The product has detachable paddles to aid the user in operation of the squeezer. To use it, the fruit is placed inside the bottom housing and the top housing is then screwed into the bottom to squeeze the juice, which subsequently is released from the filter at the base of the tool.

I settled with a curved pattern that mimics the design of citrus fruits when they’re cut in half. This allowed me to work towards a cool looking, yet functional shape that offered flexibility with the other aspects of the design.

Final Prototype Model - Made using a lathe to turn the form of the citrus squeezer out of foam. Details such as the grooves for the fingers were done using a hand file.

Internal bones designed to offset the fruit from the walls of the squeezer. The goal is to create space for the juices to flow through and out of the bottom housing.
